Seppankizhangu poriyal
This Seppankzhangu poriyal is a tasty recipe which my mom makes for us. This poriyal consumes less oil comparing to seppankizhangu fry. I have never heard of planting these colocasia but I when to my friends house in Bangalore I saw these plants. My friend told me that its leaves are used to prepare many traditional dishes in Karnataka. I am yet to try those recipes but she warned me that these leaves might create itchiness and gave me tips on how to use them. Also she told me the kannada name for these leaves as Kesuvina soppu.

White vegetable kurma
This Mixed vegetable kurma goes well with Idiyappam, Roti, Dosa, Pulavs, parottas. Also it tastes similar to Stew but with less coconut. I have added Pumpkin seeds instead of cashews for a diet friendly recipe. This kurma is big treat for weight watchers who wants to taste the restaurant style kurma with less fat.

How to make Ghee at home
Ghee is an essential part of Indian food. Adding ghee to hot rice, adding ghee on top of hot rotis and the list goes on and on. Ghee gives both nice aroma and taste to any dish that we make. My preference is always Homemade ghee than the store bought ones because you can find the freshness, great taste and nice fragrance in the ghee.

Manathakkali keerai kootu
Manathakkali keerai (Tamil)/Black nightshade (English)/Kaashi soppu (Kannada) is one of the wonderful keerai with many nutrients but was least used by all because of its bitter taste. If any one tells you to include lots of greens/keerai in your food, immediately what green comes to our mind?........YES it is Palak. Using other keerais like arakeerai, sirukeerai, manathakkali keerai are slowly deteriorating mainly because of their taste. Each keerai/green has its own health benefits so it is better to include variety of keerais for better health. This kootu is so tasty that you wouldn't find a hint that it is made of manathakkali leaves. Interested to know about its health benefits, click here.
