I have made this Mini Idli Sambar with Red Rice Mini Idli. This mini idli sambar is so yummy and kids will love them for sure.
There are two preparations
1) Mini Idli
2) Sambar
Mini Idli preparation:
I have made mini idli with idli rice as well as with red boiled rice. Kindly check the recipes at

You can use any one as per your choice.
Sambar Preparation:
This Sambar needs to be watery to make idlis to absorb more.
Ingredients:

Sambar Preparation:
This Sambar needs to be watery to make idlis to absorb more.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Toor Dal
- 1/4 cup Moong dal
- 1 Lemon Size Tamarind
- 2 tbsp Sambar Powder
- 1 tsp Jaggery
- 2 tbsp Curry leaves (Chopped)
- 4 tbsp Coriander leaves (Chopped)
- 1/4 tsp Fenugreek powder
- As per taste Salt

When Serving:
Method:
1) Pressure cook toor dal, moong dal and all veggies.
2) Mix hot water to tamarind and make a paste.
3) Heat a kadai and add oil. Add mustard seeds to crackle then add Asafoetida.
4) Add the Sambar powder and sauté.
5) Add the cooked dals and add tamarind paste and mix well, let it cook for a min.
6) In the mean time grind veggie powder and coconut with little water.
7) Add this paste, fenugreek powder, jaggery, salt, curry leaves and 2 cups of water to sambar and let it boil for 1 min.
8) Turn off the gas and add 4 tbsp coriander leaves.
Serving Method:
1) Add the idlis to serving bowl and pour hot sambar over it.
2) Add 2 tsp of chopped onion, 1 tsp of chopped coriander leaves and finally add 1 tsp of ghee over it.
- 10 nos Small onions
- 1/2 no Capsicum (Chopped)
- 1/2 no Carrot (Chopped)
- 2 no Ripened tomatoes(Chopped)
- 1/4 cup Green peas
For Seasoning:
- 3 tbsp Oil
- a pinch Asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
To Grind:
- 2 tbsp Veggie powder
- 2 tbsp Grated coconut
When Serving:
- 4 tbsp Coriander leaves (finely Chopped)
- 1/2 cup Onion (finely chopped)
- 4 tsp Ghee
